Edit: I will add that Andrew was most professional on the phone and made me feel like everything would be taken care of no problem when we spoke (both times) on Fri, 6/2. I was very surprised at how I was actually treated the day of my move versus how I was treated on the phone.
I loved these guys and they moved very quickly. I was impressed and they moved my apartment in under 3 hours. Great job guys!
Moving Proz: "Sorry, we been getting slammed in the office. Hey, I was quite a bit too low on the price. It's gonna be more like $275 because we are coming to Lawrence."
Proz: "We havent even given a contract yet. I made a mistake, nothing I can do about it. It might be best if you find a different company."
Amy G below probably had the same two guys I had.
Me: "Man, I really have no choice so I'll pay the $275".
About a week ago I had the pleasant experience moving. Sounds normal right? What if I told you me and my wife moves once a Year due to my job. We have had many movers in the past decade. Every experience before we had something wrong happen. Things broke, hidden charges, rude employees and arriving late. This was the best moving experience iv ever had. They wrap everything up so well no surface is uncovered. Everything was treated with great care and respect. The guys being so friendly and funny and professional made my experience stress free and actually fun. Next year when we move to Florida we will be using them. Thank you very much. You all rock!!
On May 30 I needed to move my stuff out of my apt. to a storage unit for the summer as I was going out of the country then moving into a smaller apt. at the end of the summer. I needed to get my stuff moved out, then clean the place, then load up my cats and head to Wyoming, all in one day. I had an estimate from Moving Proz for 2 hours, 2 men and 1 truck, for my 2 bedroom apt, $245 and $45 per hour per man for more time. One, they were over 2 hours late. Two, they took almost 5 hours. One man spent the majority of his time wandering around telling the other which things to load and how to load them. The other guy worked his ass off. Okay, admittedly, my stuff barely fit in their truck (apparently I have just that much more than can be called a 2 bedroom size load). Plus, when we got to the storage unit, I discovered that the unit I had rented was too small and it took me another 15 minutes with them on the clock to get a larger unit rented. But my plans for the day were screwed. I didn't end up leaving the place (after cleaning) until around 11pm. Luckily I had a friend to overnight with in KC so I didn't drive to Wyoming all night.
Me: "That's quite a percentage difference on the price. I really have no choice, which doesnt make me very happy."
As a Realtor, I have had decades of experiences with moving companies. Derek Shaw, Moving Proz, impressed me the first time I met him through his innovative concepts and implementation of bidding, packing, moving, and customer follow through. His service to my clients has been above and beyond expectations -- He delivered extraordinary service with sincere caring and sensitivity to the client's individual and challenging circumstances. I recommend him to all my clients and have received thanks and the echoes of shared delight. I just forwarded his contact information to a client 5 minutes ago. Tell him to continue what he has done for my clients!
Proz: "I spoke too soon, my fault. Forgot we had to go to Lawrence."
This was the exchange I had with "Proz" the day of my scheduled move. "Proz" backed out on me the day of my move. I didn't have a contract, but spoke with Andrew two times on Fri 6/2 about moving a pool table on Tues 6/6. They knew I was in Lawrence, as he mentioned they had a Lawrence phone number, but they were out of Lenexa. We discussed that they are movers, not pool table experts, and if I could disassemble/reassemble table they'd be happy to do it. I asked if calling on Mon 6/5 to make an appointment would be too late/acceptable. He said no problem. Called on Mon, left a message, no return call. Since Andrew was so adamant that he could help, I assumed he was planning on it and didn't worry. Called again Tues morn and then received the above correspondence. This company tried to price gouge me the day of the move after I had no other choice. I even tried to pay the extra $75 as seen above in the transcript but "Proz" just never responded. Horrible business ethic and practice. If this project was not wanted or not in the scope of their business ability the job shouldn't have been quoted so I could find a company that wanted my business. You're right "Proz", we didn't have a contract, just your word. Guess that isn't worth a thing.
Me: "Dude, was quoted $200, kinda sh!tty to wait til day of move then requote me. Nothing on my end has changed since we spoke Fri, so why would price change? Feel like being gouged."
Some of my friends have wondered if this happened because I am a single female and therefore a pushover.Or, it could be that one of the guys didn't want to actually work and the second guy did most of the heavy lifting. I was a pushover. I was in shock at the $520 bill, 7 hours after they were supposed to have shown up. I should have called the company and complained immediately. Either way, I got screwed and now have no money to pay movers to take my stuff from storage to my new apt.
