I have worked with Douglas County Bank for decades and they are smart, courteous, professional, experienced and truly there to assist you. I've come to know some of the voices when they answer the phone -- a good sign to know that you're represented by people that have been working for 30 years or more with some of the same team members (some have been their longer -- the bank opened in 1957). I count on astute financial perspectives when talking with the officers and enjoy the precision of their mortgage lending department (Doug Gaston and Mary Grob are the residential experts) -- the Board of Directors know Lawrence inside out, historically and with vision for the future. I refer people to use the services of Douglas County Bank whenever asked for a bank reference. They know business and they know Lawrence, Kansas, the region, and, enough of the world to work with the University of Kansas personnel (faculty, staff, and students).

I really loved everything else about the bank and the people are great, really had a hard time leaving them felt like family.
Have been with Douglas co bank for over 20 years open a new business went to get a loan for the new BBQ store and was told have some good new and some bad news, I could get the loan as long as we do not sell the big green egg. They had a loan office that had a personal invested interest in another co. in town that sold them as a side unit, Do not like the ethics of the loan department pulled all my business do the dishonest banking practices. Also believe this is not legal to us the bank to leverage personal interest.
Service is slower than most of the other banks in Lawrence, every single time I go there. I try to be friendly with the tellers and can hardly ever get a smile out of them.
